I never understood
the pull towards you
the strong desire
to be near you
the ease with which our souls merged
maybe for you,
it was mere flattery
welcoming my curiosity
playfulness
my open-hearted being
parts of me, I sense
were seeking to feel
the open scars
and their wounding
that our closeness
brought to the surface
invalidating and dissolving them in our togetherness
my adoration
and bids for connection
were never meant to cage you
it no longer matters, but
what were you running from
when you could not hold my pain ?
what scared you into cutting me off ?
being in your presence
was more than I could have asked for
